Track and Field Sports are divided into different types, each containing more sub-events.
These three are the Major types which contain many events in each of them. Let’s continue with our list.
Sprints Races (100m, 200m, 400m)
Middle Distance Races (800m, 1500m)
Long Distance Races (3000m, 5000m, 10000m)
Hurdles Races (100m, 400m)
Relay Races (4x100m, 4x400m, 4x400m mixed)

This sport is an athletics track and field sport in which a disk-shaped object is thrown at a distance.

The hammer throw is one of the four throwing events in regular track and field competitions, along with the discus throw, shot put, and javelin.
The “hammer” used in this sport it is not like an actual hammer is thrown. It consists of a metal ball attached by a steel wire to a grip. The size of the ball varies between men’s and women’s competitions.
The ball weight is the same as the shot put (7.26 Kg) but for hammer throw athletes take rapid spins before releasing it to throw as far as they can to win.
The World record for Hammer Throw is around 86.74 meters.
The javelin throw is a track and field event where the javelin, a spear about 2.5 meters in length and weight around (800g for men and 600g for women), is thrown at a distance. The thrower gains momentum by running within a decided area.
People say that javelin throwers have more use for their legs than their upper bodies and that’s true. Athletes need to work on strengthening their legs more than their upper body.
When they block, there’s a lot of pressure on the ankles that their knees also need to be sturdy because of the pressure they come under when they block.
The World Record for the longest Javelin Throw is around 104.80 meters.

The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength, and agility to leap as far as possible from the decided takeoff point. It is also known as the broad jump. This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948.
The Longest Jump ever recorded is around 8.95 meters.
It is a track and field event in which competitors must jump untouched over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights. In its modern, most-practiced format, a bar is placed between two stands with a crash mat for landing. Since ancient times, competitors have introduced increasingly effective techniques to arrive at the current form, and the current universally preferred method is the Fosbury Flop, in which athletes run towards the bar and leap head first with their back to the bar.
The highest recorded jump is around 2.45 meters.

The triple jump sometimes referred to as the ‘hop, step and jump’ or ‘hop, skip and jump’, is a track and field event that is similar to the long jump.
The competitor runs down the track and performs a hop, a bound, and then a jump into the sand pit.
The triple jump technique is much like the game hopscotch that young children play. An athlete must take off and land on the same leg then land on the next opposite leg before landing in the pit. This event has many of the same characteristics that the long jump displays during the approach.
The longest triple jump ever recorded is around 18.29 meters.

Pole vaulting, also known as pole jumping is a track and field event in which an athlete uses a long and flexible pole, usually made from fiberglass or carbon fiber, as equipment to jump over a bar.
It is not only dangerous, but it is one of the hardest sports as well. Athletes must have a significant amount of upper body strength to launch themselves into the air, upside down on the pole.
