Indian players are not allowed to play in any T10 or T20 league other than IPL or leagues in other countries.

Because BCCI doesn’t allow this in their contract. They can only play in outside leagues if they have taken retirement from all formats of the Indian Cricket League.

Many players from India played in T10 League which are:

Yuvraj Singh

Virender Sehwag

Zaheer khan

Ashish Nehra

Irfan Pathan

Pravin Tambe

“BCCI rules do not allow an Indian player either contracted or non-contracted, to play in any T10 or T20 league outside the country.”

Because of these rules many players were disqualified to play in domestic leagues for joining outside leagues or were not allowed to play in the Indian Premier League.

So, here are some players who were affected by this rule:

Pravin Tambe:

He is one of the oldest players to play In Indian cricket and in 2020 he gets picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2020.

but by the IPL board, he got disqualified cause he played in T10 League in 2018.

And there is a reason because he retired from all formats in 2018 to play in the T10 league and in 2020 he registered himself for the IPL that’s why he got disqualified.

There happened a controversy between Irfan Pathan and BCCI because he signup for the Caribbean Premier League in the year 2019.

BCCI even gives a warning for putting his name in that draft and has to withdraw his name from that league.

Yuvraj Singh:

There are only a few players which are allowed to play in T10 League and he is one of them.

He has given the NOC(No Objection Cerftificate) to play in the Global T20 league because he is retired from all formats of cricket domestic to international.

Thoughts on this:

Many senior players recommend and request to let them play in other leagues but BCCI is still not taking any actions.

Let me know in comments below what do you think about this.

In my opinion, they should play in other leagues cause many foreign players play in the Indian Premier League.

But according to BCCI, they think it will be the promotion of the other leagues other than IPL and it might affect the Indian Premier League world status.

That’s it for today I hope you get some info about it. Will be back with more till then…
