Basketball is fun to play or watch because the field action is very fast and exciting. Each player on the court plays both offense and defense. There are roles but they are not fixed to a specific player.
Basketball is a game played between two teams with five players each on a rectangular court. It is played indoors and each team tries to score by tossing the ball through the opponent’s hoop or should I say, basket.
History of Basketball
Basketball was invented by James Naismith around December 1891, at the International Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Training School, Springfield, Massachusetts, where Naismith was an instructor in physical education. It is the only major sport strictly of U.S. origin (although Naismith was born in Canada).
Basketball is the National Sport of the USA (America) and is also popular in other countries like Australia, Canada, Iraq, etc.

How to play Basketball
Basketball is a game played between two teams with five players each on a rectangular court of the below-given dimensions. It is played indoors and each team tries to score by tossing the ball through the opponent’s hoop.
The best thing about it is that each player Is not bound to any single role and every player takes part in their team’s offense and defense.
This game needs quick reflexes, stamina, good jumps, and blocking skills. A player needs all this because a fraction of a second can turn the tides of the entire game. A single goal can shift the team’s momentum toward them or opponents.

Roles in Basketball
1. Centre – The centre is the tallest player on each team (not always) who play near the basket. He continuously switches from offense and defense. On offense, the centre tries to score on close shots and rebounds. In the defense, the centre is responsible for keeping the opponent from shooting by blocking shots and passes in the vital area.
2. Power Forward – The power forward does many of the things a centre does because they play near the basket while rebounding and defending goals from taller players. They are often the most versatile player who is able to score at a close distance as well as being able to shoot from midrange.
It will be more effective if they’re able to land a three-point consistently. It builds up even more pressure and they can become a threat to their opponents.
3. Small Forward – The small forward plays against small and large players. They roam all over the court. They must have enough height and the ability to play on the inside as well as agility to play on the outside.
Small Forwards are usually the second or third-best shooters on the team and they are able to do a little bit of everything on the court, from scoring from the insides to taking long three-pointer shoots.
