Thousands of Liverpool fans packed into Hillsborough Stadium for an epic FA Cup semi-final. But poor crowd management and overcrowding on standing terraces caused a catastrophic rush, causing the deaths of ninety-seven fans, and over 700 were injured.

This led to landmark reforms in English football, including the removal of standing terraces in top-flight stadiums and stricter safety standards that still protect fans today.
